A Walk in the Clouds

“When there's snow on the ground, I like to pretend I'm walking on clouds”.
Takayuki Ikkaku, Arisa Hosaka and Toshihiro Kawabata, Animal Crossing: Wild World, 2005

Your IT landscape is fraught with complexities. Complexities exist at the level of the hardware, networking components, software, inference engines, and so on. You might have only one vendor managing the show and still not beat the complexity. Every component in your IT system evolves at a different speed. New technologies are emerging at all times, of which some end up being temporal fads, and you always land up facing a tough call to make.

People and consumers of information add to the complexity. Governance structures are usually centralized and span across a corporate entity. But a recent research (Gartner) suggests that the Lines of Business have the necessary autonomy, to tread a different path than the corporate entity. Over-bought licenses and unusable products are tangible evidences.

As a CIO, you are required to manage this complexity within the resources that you are given and connections that you make. More often than not, especially in tough economic cycles, you have to pretend that all is well and that you are walking the clouds.

My question to you is, what if you could actually walk the cloud?

Consider Ramco’s offerings. Large private cloud experiences, which Ramco has worked on and learned from, enable it to deliver this experience that you look out for.

First, an enterprise class application is made available to you on the Internet. According to McKinsey Research, application software is measured by its scalability, uptime, and throughput. Ramco’s software has been endorsed by its customers against these very parameters. A Swiss Manufacturer of watch movements is pleased with the almost 100% uptime of the mission-critical Ramco ERP. Organizations around the globe in the MRO space vouch for the application’s response time, despite the underlying complexity in terms of schema and business-rule density. Organizations with as less as 100 employees all the way till 150,000 spread across geographical boundaries have used it successfully over the last decade.

Second, the complexity is hidden from you. Concepts such as multi-tenancy and SOA, can deliver the behavior that the Lines of Business within a corporate whole is looking for. Access rights, actions that may be performed, and rules to be followed in computing and messaging, can be configured to a user or groups of users. Ramco manage all these complexities for you. Productivity tools permit the extension and easy integration of these extensions to the base application. Try playing in the “sand boxes” meant for them. In addition, Ramco manages the upgrade process too.

There is more than just this; there are no pretences in this offer, and needless to say we will continue to talk…

So what are you waiting for?

Get ready to walk the clouds.
